Setting lots of alarms

As a person with mostly inattentive ADD, I am a champion of forgetting things. Basically every time I’ve ever said to myself, “It’s fine, I’ll remember,” I have NOT REMEMBERED. And it’s funny because the idea of setting alarms to remind ourselves of things is right there in front of us, it’s incredibly easy to do. But for some reason I’ve spent a lot of my life ignoring that option. Writing things down has always been a decent alternative, but what happens when you stop checking your notes?

I don’t exactly know what changed. Maybe I just finally had that many things to do. Maybe one-too-many important things went forgotten. But I’ve finally developed a habit of setting lots of alarms on my phone. It’s incredibly easy to do, I can set as many as I want at a time, and it ensures that the moment something needs to be done, I can remember to do it. It doesn’t even matter how small of a thing it is, I make an alarm for it.

Don’t be afraid to use your calendar as well. It’s VERY easy for me to forget about something entirely if it’s months away. You can never have too many events in your calendar.

One more recommendation related to this one though: When an alarm goes off, DO THE THING IMMEDIATELY. If I put it aside for even one minute I’m likely to just forget anyway.
